Submissions

Many of our poems are written in-house, but we would be delighted to receive submissions of found poetry, especially work rich in lovely period detail. We want to build a social history, a rare glimpse into the lives of ordinary women from the past,  whose voices would otherwise be lost. Please try to keep the original source as true as possible, or highlight the found text in italics. Remember to cite the source. Be as imaginative as you like with your sources – we want to give a voice to women sometimes lost in history  – so surprise us. If using personal sources,  please feel free to send us an accompanying photo to appear with your work, if you have the necessary permissions.

This project is about collecting together rich snapshots of the past.We are looking for poems with content sourced  from pre 1980.

We would prefer poems up to 40 lines.

Send up to 5 pieces of your best work in the body of an email where possible to:
silentvoicespoetry@gmail.com

We aim to reply within four weeks or less. We don’t mind if your work has been published elsewhere, just make sure you have permission first and tell us where it was published.

Unfortunately we cannot offer payment for the poems we publish, but we can give our heartfelt thanks and add a short bio of up to 100 words in which you can promote yourself or your work.
