Postcards Home (1951)

I am writing this
at the top of this mountain,
never seen anything like it,

the railway coming up
is very frightening.
Money doesn’t go far,
very expensive here.

The weather is baking hot
now my cold has almost gone.
Hope you are well.
John sends his love.
He will write the next one.

There is an alpine horn blowing,
it sounds lovely.
We are up higher
then an aeroplane,

love from us all,
would you keep this
for me please
