We were very sorry indeed to hear
your little girl has been ill,
but we really do not feel
responsible for this

and cannot undertake
doctor’s bills for adopting parents.
I am sure
you will understand.

Being a charity, we find
it all that we can do
to manage our own expenses
which are all, of necessity, very heavy
having the office and two hostels to maintain.

You have been very good
to the baby
and Mrs Henderson tells us
that she is the picture of health
and happiness.

I take it that you will wish
to make the adoption legal.
Will you kindly tell us

which is your nearest juvenile
or County Court and we will then advise you
as to the method of procedure.
